PhyBus’ team is dedicated to helping ASCs succeed. The company was founded by an ASC industry pioneer. Our entire leadership team has deep industry knowledge and hands-on revenue cycle expertise. This “ground up” understanding of how surgery centers operate allows PhyBus to integrate the right operational procedures to maximize revenue while preparing the facility to successfully navigate future industry changes.

Rodney Lunn

Founder, President & CEO

Rodney Lunn is an accomplished healthcare executive with over 40 years of healthcare leadership and management experience.

Rodney co-founded Practice Development Associates in 1987. Practice Development Associates developed 75 Ambulatory Surgery Centers over five years. In 1991, Rodney co-founded of AmSurg Corp., a multi-billion dollar publicly-traded U.S. company. AmSurg now owns and operates 250 ambulatory surgery centers, with over 2,000 physician partnerships provider over 1.6 million outpatient surgical procedures per year.

During his influential career, Rodney has served in numerous chief management roles for a broad range of healthcare companies. He was Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for American Medical Centers; Chief Financial Officer of INA Healthplan of Texas (now Cigna), and Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of HealthAmerica of Florida.

Ronnie Pennell

Ronnie Pennell has over 20 years of experience in healthcare and related industries. Since 2009, Ronnie’ has dedicated himself to the operations of ambulatory surgery centers. Starting his career with the Institutional Consulting Group at Dean Witter Reynolds in Brentwood, TN, Ronnie has done business with multi-billion dollar hospitals, public utilities and technology companies, as well as medical device and consumer product manufacturers. Working with some of the largest healthcare companies in the country, Ronnie’s professional background includes management buyouts, leveraged ESOP, corporate benefits programs and institutional investment management.

Ronnie’s experience and success in corporate finance and as business advisor has dovetailed perfectly in working with physicians and hospital executives across the country in establishing and executing a plan of action for maximum ROI. Through detailed planning, relationship building and community activity he has continuously been able to meet his client’s goals and objectives

Shelly Lunn

Revenue Cycle Manager

Shelly Lunn is part of the Marketing, Sales and Revenue Cycle Management team at PhyBus. Her responsibilities are centered on business development and client satisfaction. Prior to moving into a sales role Shelly worked as an ASC Medical Billing Specialist. She knows and understands what goes in managing the revenue cycle and applies that knowledge to help ensure potential clients are educated on all services offered and the ways PhyBus is there to support their clients guaranteeing the best possible customer experience.

With a diverse background ranging from Affiliate Broker, Marketing Specialist, and Recruiter Shelly’s expertise lies in engaging decision makers and devising winning sales strategies and solutions. Shelly holds a degree from Belmont University.

Kathy Slayden

Controller

Kathy Slayden joined PhyBus as a senior accounting professional, having over 10+ years of healthcare experience in financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and cash management, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Prior to joining PhyBus, Kathy was the Accounting Manager for Community Health System, Inc., where she worked with administrators and operation directors in creating annual operating budgets.

During Kathy’s career, she has served in key controller, director of finance, and accounting positions. She served as the Controller for Community Care, Inc., Director of Finance for Parallon Business Solutions, and Accounting Manager for Community Health System, Inc.

Kathy received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

Greg Wells

Director of Business Development

Greg Wells is a healthcare veteran, having over 20+ years’ experience in building and developing de novo projects, in-market development, re-syndication and managing physician and stakeholder partnerships in the Hospital, MOB, ASC, and Diagnostic Imaging Center space.  Greg has raised more than $100MM and recruited over 700 physicians for various complex joint-venture structures. This is evidence of Greg’s ability to build trusted relationships with C-Suite Executives and Physicians and to deliver results in a complex healthcare environment.

Prior to joining PhyBus, Greg was VP of Business Development for Surgical Development Partners (SDP), where he developed hospitals and other patient access points.

During Greg’s career, he has served in key business development roles and co-founded numerous companies.  He served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Imaging One, Director of Business Development for e+ Healthcare and Managing Partner/Business and Strategic Development for Consultis Information Technology.

Greg received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.
